1. Wear light coloured clothes
Wearing clothes with full sleeves and light colours can allow the skin cells to stay safe, and away from the harmful rays of the sun. This is one of the best ways for keeping kids healthy, even when they are in school.
2. Drink enough water
About 70 percent of the body is composed of fluids. It’s therefore necessary to drink at least 8 litres of water on a daily basis. As a result, the body stays cool, and the heat of the sun cannot generate any impact on the skin. Drinking adequate water can contribute a lot to the child’s health.
3. Consume fruits regularly
The fruits consist of high amounts of nutrients that are beneficial for the health of the skin. If the fruits are consumed on a regular basis, it can easily keep your skin moisturised and body cool in spite of the high heat levels in the atmosphere. Hence healthy eating for children during summers is a must.
4. Taking bath
Let your child have bath 2-3 times a day, this will lower down the heat effect and it is a fun way to keep them busy in summer vacation. Going for swimming is another way to keep body hydrated.
5. Healthy Food
Give your child home cooked healthy food during summer, to avoid infections from outside food. Instead of oily and fried food give your kids lots of salads and fruits to keep kids healthy and hydrated in summer.
6. Try to stay under shades
Whenever you are out on the streets, always choose to move into the shades. Look out for the shady areas that do not have direct contact with the sun. Share this tip with your kids too. Always take umbrella during afternoon when it’s too hot. Make your kid wear hat/cap while leaving from home.
7. Drink Juices and Shakes
Give your kid lemon juice every day. Lemon juice is packed with Vitamin C, Magnesium, Phosphorus and carbohydrates. It is a great drink to beat summer heat. Other drinks like watermelon juice and milk shakes- banana shake, mango shake etc are best drinks for summer. Perfect combination of health and taste for your little kiddo.
8. Have healthy and light food
Fruits like watermelon and salads can keep your body cool in summers. So include lots fruits and salads in kids daily food routine. Do avoid using spices in summers as body cannot bear spices in summer. Eating heavy and spicy food can add up to the heat generated in your body and damage skin too.
9. Using sunglasses
Use sunglasses when the child is going out to avoid strain on their eyes due to heat. It is also a good idea as not only kids enjoy wearing sun glasses but also they can protect their eyes.
10. Apply sunscreen lotions
Sun-screen comprises of ingredients which protect the skin from the harmful rays of the sun and makes it nice and glowing. Sunburns can seriously hamper the skin tone and make it prone to numerous complications. It is recommended that everyone should apply sunscreen daily specially children as their skin is very sensitive, even after swimming or for that matter even on cloudy days.
11. Avoid going out in afternoon
Try avoid going out in sun between 11 am to 3 pm. As at that time sun heat is maximum, and heat wave is dangerous at that time. If you have to go out in the sun for quite some time, then do not hesitate to apply the sunscreen again. Encourage your child to apply sunscreen too. Also instruct kids to wear hats/caps while going out.
